My Photo Album 💟

Something that is important to me is my photo album. This album is full of pictures with people in my family in it. I chose this photo album because it has a lot of funny and heart - warming memories. 💗 The photo album makes me happy and it makes me laugh because of all the embarrassing photos of me and my family. Everyone from my moms side is in the book and some of my dads side. I’ve had this photo album for 5 years. I remember when I was little me and my sister would love putting new pictures in it. I hope I can get more memories in my photo album as I get older. :)

Book blog #2 - The Hidden Summer

The novel I read was called “The Hidden Summer” written by Gin Phillips. This novel is about two 13 year - old girls named Nell and Lydia, (the main characters) and how both their moms were mad at each other. This led to their mothers not wanting them to hang out with each other anymore. They had been for friends for many years and they were both scared of losing each other. A solution for that was they decided to spend basically their whole summer hiding in an abandoned golf course. Obviously they didn’t want their parents to catch them so they hid during specific hours where they lied about having camp when really they were just hiding to spend time with each other. In the end they both moms forgave each other and everyone was happy. This book overall I would rate an 8/10.

Book blog : The Great Wall Of Lucy Wu

I read  “The Great Wall Of Lucy Wu” by Wendy Wan - long Shang. The book was about a girl named Lucy Wu which she loved to play basketball. She was thinking about being the 6th grade captain for the basketball team but had many obstacles along the way like Sloane. Sloane also wanted to be captain for the basketball team but didn’t even play basketball. She was very rude to Lucy which was one of the problems for being captain. She also had an older sister and brother. Her sister “Regina” was the oldest and they didn’t get along very well. They had lots of fights but she eventually went to college. She also had an older brother named Kevin. Since he was really smart and good at math he had no problems and Lucy and him rarely got into fights. Another problem was her parents wanted her to go to Chinese school. She was Chinese but wasn’t the best at speaking it. In fact she preferred American food over Chinese food  but yet the rest of her family preferred Chinese food,so she was different from the rest of her family. Not only was Chinese school a problem but she thought she was gonna have her own room when Regina left but her plans were ruined when she found out that she had to share her room with her grandmother”Yi Po” that was coming over for a while. Yi Po was very nice and caring. Lucy really didn’t like that fact that she had to share a room with her grandmother cause she thought it would be awkward but she ended up loving Yi Po and got to be captain of the 6th grade basketball team! My favorite character was Yi Po because she was a nice grandmother to Lucy and always comforted her when she needed it. Overall I would rate this book a 9/10 👌🏽

Quarter 1 - Grades Reflection! 🍉

  • How has this quarter been for you? This quarter has been ok though I’ve noticed that I get so much more homework than we get in 7th grade! But overall this quarter has been pretty good.
    • How are your classes? Grades? I love all my classes it’s maybe I can do better in science. I got all 3’s but 2 2’s so I felt like I could do better in taking responsibility for my learning in science.
    • Always room for improvement:  What can you do differently next quarter to be successful? With your grades and your behavior? I can try not to miss even one day because I’ve noticed that even if I miss a single day have so much to catch up on the next.
    • What about outside of the classroom? Did you join any clubs, sports teams, etc…? If not, what do you plan to do next quarter to get more involved? I’ve joined cross country (running team) which was really fun because I found out that I really love not only running but racing too. 🤗 I don’t know if I plan to join everything else though.

Making Connections Blog! (Poem - Novel)

I read the poem On Revenge by Sir Francis Bacon. The poem connected to the novel because first of all the title is called “On Revenge”. For some reason it made me think about how the socs  always wanted revenge or how they always wanted to start fights with the greasers. The poem also talked about in one line that “we are commanded to forgive our friends”. It was kind of like Ponyboy knew that he had to forgive Johnny for what he did, even if  he did it on accident. Ponyboy didn’t really forgive him but he told him it was ok since it was an accident. Another thing the poem talked about was where in one line it said “a man is but even with his enemy”. This made me think of  all the greasers in the movie vs the socs which they thought of as “enemies”.

The Outsiders - Movie vs Novel

The outsiders in my opinion did stay true to the novel. I felt as if in the movie everything happened pretty quickly since obviously it takes longer to read a book. The only thing that was different that I noticed about the characters was johnny. In the novel it said he was really pale but in the movie he was tan and/or dark skinned. The novel made me picture johnny in another way but when I saw the movie i obviously changed the way I looked and thought of him. I think that the actors did a really good job of not only delivering the novels message but actually being like the characters I read in the novel. I really only noticed small details like for example: In the novel dally robbed a store but when I saw the movie dally robbed the store and held up a gun to the clerk. If you think about it, it really is a small detail but changed the way I pictured it. Also Ponyboy even mentioned the "Nothing Gold Can Stay" poem just like he did in the novel like he did in the movie.
